Sibley tossed no-hitter as Edwardsburg sweeps Plainwell

EDWARDSBURG — Jonah Sibley was brilliant on the pitcher’s mound, as he threw a no-hitter to lead Edwardsburg past Plainwell 2-0 in the first game of its Wolverine Conference doubleheader Friday.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Sibley struck out eight, while Isaac Davis sat down five.
The Eddies got on the board in the second inning when Zach Stryker grounded out, scoring one run.
Sibley surrendered no runs on no hits over seven innings, striking out eight and walking none.
Davis took the loss for Plainwell. He lasted six innings, allowing six hits and two runs while striking out five and walking none.
The Eddies tallied six hits in the game. Connor Ostrander and Sibley each had two hits to lead.
Edwardsburg (13-3) also won the nightcap 2-0.
Mac Gaideski scattered six hits, struck out seven and walked only one in going the distance on the mound for the Eddies.
Nick Tiler of Plainwell tossed a four-hitter with three strikeouts, but walk five.
Sibley doubled, while Caden Goggins, Bryce Blue and Conner Nelson all singled.
