Roxie May Kelly, 94, of Dowagiac, passed away while surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 24, 2019.

Roxie was born on Dec. 21, 1924, in Mayfield, Kentucky. After school, she went on to work in a factory and later married Willie Kelly. Roxie was a feisty woman who loved to listen to blues music and spend time in her garden but her favorite activity was cooking for her family; especially if she got to make her famous greens.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings; daughter, Sondra Kelly; and sons, JD Bomer and Robert Owen.

Roxie is survived by her daughters, Alice Sanders and Patricia White, both of Dowagiac; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and close friends.

In keeping with Roxie’s wishes, her family will be remembering her privately.
