Brandywine splits with Bison, Shamrocks

NILES — The Brandywine boys track team picked up its first win of the season as it defeated visiting New Buffalo 74-55 Wednesday afternoon.

The Bobcats finished the day with a split as Berrien Springs defeated them 105-28.

Brandywine was swept in the girls meet as New Buffalo won 67-43 and Berrien Springs won 103-28.

Top performers for the Bobcat boys’ team were Zachary Anderson, who won the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 16.80, was second in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 47.7 and was a member of the Bobcats’ runner-up 800- and 400-meter relay teams.

Brandywine won the 1,600-meter relay as Bryce Taberskim A.J. Stockdale, Mason Young and Bryce McLane posted a time of 3:59.80.

Aaron Lauri and Matthew Cox went first and second in the pole vault with heights of 8 feet and 7-6 respectively.

For the girls team, Kaitlyn VanLaecke won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.61 and was part of the Bobcats’ 800-meter relay team that posted a time of 2:01.97. Also on that squad were Madison Franks, Mia Frazier and Delaney Heiermann.

Allison Lauri captured the 3,200 meters with a time of 14:17.36 for Brandywine’s only other first-place finish of the meet.
