NILES — The Niles soccer team got into the win column Monday as it defeated host Kalamazoo Central 2-1 in SMAC action.

Willow Brawley had a goal in each half, which was assisted by Grace Florkowski.

“We came out as team tonight and worked together to get a hard won victory,” said Niles coach Abel Fonseca. “The girls have been putting in the hard work at practices and it really showed on both sides of the ball tonight. I told the girls it was their game to win if they wanted it, and they clearly did because we came out like we finished the first half being aggressive.”

Renee Franco had eight saves for the Vikings.
