Nov. 25, 1951 — April 20, 2019

David H. Utrup, of Newaygo, went to be with the Lord on April 20, 2019, at the age of 67.

He was born on Nov. 25, 1951, to Arthur and Mildred (Meadows O’Beirne) Utrup in Benton Harbor. He graduated from Dowagiac High School and Western Michigan University.

David worked for several years as a Speech therapist for Newaygo County RESA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mildred; and his brother, Ronald Utrup.

David is survived by his wife of 42 years, Shirley (Vander Zand) Utrup; his sons, James Utrup and Richard Utrup; and his pride and joy — his grandson Nathan Utrup.

He will also be missed by his siblings, Fredrick (Mary) Mitchell, William (Jean) Mitchell, James (Judy) Utrup, Robert (Shellie) Utrup, and Mary ( Robert) Shane; as well as his brother-in-law, Kenneth (Patricia) Vander Zand; his sisters-in-law, Carol Groth and Bonnie Sieting, and his many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2019, at Fields-McKinley Funeral and Cremation Services, Grant Chapel, 45 E. Main Street, Grant, MI 49327 and from 10 to 11 a.m. before the funeral.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2019, at Grant Reformed Church, 271 E. State Road, Grant, MI 49327. Pastor Shelby Gemmen will be officiating. Burial will take place in the Garfield Township Cemetery.
