Peter Laskovy, 95, of Niles, formerly of Dowagiac, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at his home.

A private graveside will be at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac. Memorials may be made to the VFW Post 1855 in Dowagiac. Those wishing to share a memory of Peter online may do so at clarkch.com.

Peter Laskovy

Peter was born June 19, 1923, in Decatur, to Julius and Julia (Bobak) Laskovy.

He graduated from Decatur High School. Peter served his country in the U.S. Air Force during WWII and was a Waist Gunner on a b-24.

On June 5, 1950, he married Margaret Knott in Dowagiac. Peter worked for Hayden Beardsley auto body repair shop as Manager for 38 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, working on cars, and making and drinking wine.

Peter is survived by his daughter Peggy (Paul) Ranft; son Thomas (Mary VanderBloomen) Laskovy; two grandchildren Jason (Rebecca) Wiemuth and Alexandra Ranft; two great-grandchildren Brayden and Ashlyn Wiemuth; sisters Ann Petersen and Eleanor Meade. Peter was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters Dorothy Smith and Stella Pollack, and brothers Alex, Max, John, and Stephen Laskovy.
