NILES – The Niles District Library seeks to build a community of lifelong learners who want to make Niles their lifelong home. A library card is not required to participate in any programs. All programs are free.

Tuesday, April 16

• 10:30 a.m. — Passport pals

Each Tuesday there will be a special story time tour of the world. There will be books, songs, a craft, and other super surprises relating to the special country of the month. Those who attend can also get their passport stamped.

• Senior Seminars — 1 to 2 p.m.

The Senior Seminars Series, in conjunction with 1st Source Bank and Halbritter Wickens Funeral Services, is a monthly series of speakers outlining topics on aging. This month’s topic is, “Where Can I Volunteer?”  Coffee and cookies will be provided. Those who participate will be entered into a door prize drawing. This free program does not require pre-registration.

• 6 p.m. — Chips and Chapters

Every Tuesday, Ms. Tara will read aloud from a chapter book while participants eat chips and follow along. This activity is for all ages.

• 6 to 7 p.m. — STEM Stars

This activity is for those ages 6 to 12. Meg, the teacher, will show students a different STEM topic. This program is complete with a read aloud, and a project to work on.

Wednesday, April 17

• 9:30 a.m. — Squealers

For babies birth to 18 months, this lapsit program, includes a fingerplay, song, board book, and 10 minutes of baby play and bubbles.

• 10 a.m. — Squeakers

This activity is aimed at those ages 18 months to 3 years. This will be a short story time with one book, a fingerplay, and a song. The activity will end with bubbles. Additional activities will include working on skills like sitting quietly, listening to a story independently, and following directions.

• 10:30 am — Squigglers

This activity is for children ages 18 months to 5 years. This story time program is structured like the beginning of a preschool class. There will be a to do calendar, letter of the day, and a color song, with two books and music and movement.

• 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Storytime

This activity is for children ages 3 and up. This story time features three books, a color song, and music and movement. The program will end with a hand stamp, coloring sheet, and a craft.

Thursday, April 18

• 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

This activity is for children ages 3 and up. This story time features three books, a color song, and music and movement.  The program will end with a hand stamp, coloring sheet, and a craft.

Saturday, April 20

• 1 to 3 p.m. — STEM Stars

This activity is for those ages 6 to 12. Meg, the teacher, will show students a different STEM topic. This program is complete with a read aloud, and a project to work on.
