Kenneth M. “Ken” McCalley, of Dowagiac, passed away, Tuesday, April 9, 2019, surrounded by his loving family at Bronson Commons in Mattawan.

A celebration of life service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 19, 2019, at Berrien Center Bible Church, 8830 M-140, Berrien Center. Burial will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in Niles. Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2019, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St, Dowagiac. Ken was born Oct. 21, 1936, in Dowagiac, to Clifford and Ruby (Maness) McCalley. He graduated from Dowagiac High School in 1955. Ken proudly served his country in the U.S. National Guard from 1953 to 1962.

On April 24, 1965, he married the love of his life, Lynne Link, in Dowagiac. Ken loved the outdoors where he spent time hunting and fly fishing. He enjoyed collecting guns, making his own ammunition and, in his spare time, visiting the firing range. Ken was known as a generous and honest man who did anything for his friends and family. Most of all he loved his family and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Ken is survived by his daughters, Lorie (Dave) Huibregtse, Cheryl McCalley and Cindy (Robert, Jr.) Hernandez; grandchildren Antonio and Alexander Hernandez; siblings, Mary Mae Brackeen, Darlene McCalley and Clifford Allen McCalley; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lynne McCalley; siblings, Marilyn McCalley, Delores Jones and Rosalie Kidman.
