Colette Scott, 59, of Niles, went to be with her Lord and Savior unexpectedly but of natural causes on Monday, April 8, 2019.

Colette was born on Oct. 1, 1959, and at the age of 2, she was adopted by her parents, Donald and Ina Beck.

She graduated from Penn High School, and on Valentine’s Day, in 1981, Colette wed her one true love, Sammy Scott, at a ceremony in Granger. She later went on to work as a nursing aide until her health prevented her from doing so. Colette went into nursing because she was passionate about helping others.

More than 15 years ago, Colette became a soldier for the Salvation Army. In doing this, she found her calling. She was able to help so many people; many of whom became her friends. She was a bell ringer three to five days a week during the Christmas season. She served as a receptionist at the Salvation Army, and was the Women’s Ministry Secretary.

Colette and Sam were happily inseparable, and if you saw one, the other wasn’t far away.

She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband of 38 years, Sammy; son, David (Kristi) Scott; grandchildren, Kale Pollard, Skyler Scott, Hayden Scott, and Cadance Scott; siblings, Carmel Scott, of Elkhart, Tony Cueno, of Elkhart, Christopher Beck, of Granger, and John (Alexandria) Cueno, of South Bend; and many extended family members and close friends.

A memorial service to honor Colette will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at The Salvation Army, located at 424 N. 15th Street in Niles, with a time of visitation one hour prior. Pastor Bill Walters will be officiating.
