Rebecca Grabemeyer volunteers with the Young Professionals of Greater Dowagiac.

What do you do for the Young Professionals of Greater Dowagiac?

I am the treasurer. I helped to get us on track to be a not-for-profit organization.

How long have you been volunteering and how did you get involved?

I’ve been involved since 2016. I ended up attending the mother, son event in 2016 and found out I knew a few of the volunteers and asked them about meetings. The rest is history.

Why do you think it’s important for people to volunteer their time?

I think it’s very important that we get involved and have long lasting groups that affect the area because it makes our community better overall.

Why do you continue to volunteer with YPOGD?

I like that we’re all different. Our group has entrepreneurs, employees of large and small businesses. It’s a very welcoming group, and very casual at our meetings.

What is YPOGD working on now?

Our next event is our fireworks on the last Friday in June. We are also looking at doing capital improvement type project that will have a long lasting footprint on community.
