Shots fired into Edwardsburg home injure homeowner

MASON TOWNSHIP — An Edwardsburg man was injured after suspects shot into his Mason Township home early Saturday morning, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.

The incident occurred when a 57-year-old Edwardsburg resident refused to speak with unknown suspects who visited his home. The suspects responded by shooting into the home through the window, which injured the homeowner.

The sheriff’s department was called to the home on Starbrick Street near Tharp Lake Road in Mason Township at 12:19 a.m. to investigate the shooting, at which point the victim was transported to Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart to be treated for his injuries. As of 11 a.m. Saturday, the victim is reported to be in stable condition.

The suspects’ identities are unknown as police continue to investigate the situation.
