Niles police investigating armed robbery at Check Into Cash

NILES — The Niles Police Department is currently investigating an armed robbery that took place at Check Into Cash Wednesday.

At 12:24 p.m. Wednesday, the Niles Police Dispatch Center received a holdup alarm at Check Into Cash, located at 726 S. 11th St. Seconds after receiving the alarm, a 911 call was made to the Niles Police Dispatch Center reporting an armed robbery at that location.

Niles Police officers quickly responded to find that the suspect fled with an undetermined amount of money.  The suspect was described as a black male who fled in a light-colored passenger vehicle.

Michigan State Police troopers and deputies from the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department assisted in searching the area for any suspects.

The initial investigation shows that a firearm was displayed during the robbery, and one shot was fired. It is unknown at this time if the shot was fired intentionally or accidentally, according to police.

No injuries occurred during this incident.

The robbery is still under investigation.
