CASSOPOLIS — The Captain Samuel Felt Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution met March 11 to honor Chayla Gould.

Gould is a senior and Student Senate president at Cassopolis Ross Beatty High School. She was chosen to represent the chapter as Good Citizen at the state level from among our five area high schools.

DAR Good Citizen Committee Chairwoman, Sharon Kantz, introduced Gould as the chapter winner. All her papers (essay, references, biography of information and transcripts) were forwarded to the state, DAR of Michigan, for competition with award winners from the other 51 state chapters.

Gould’s winning essay, “What Challenges will America Face in the Future,” highlighted her thoughts on technological advances and the differences in ideas among generations. Her conclusion was that America is a strong country and, thus, will be able to overcome these challenges.

The University of Michigan has accepted Gould for the 2019 freshman year this coming fall. She accepted a stipend from Kantz on behalf of the chapter to help her toward her endeavors at the U of M. The organization said they wish Chayla success.
