Joan E. Garrett, 88, of Dowagiac, passed away at the Timbers of Cass County in Dowagiac, on Friday, March 15, 2019.

A celebration of life service will be held at the graveside at 1 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2019, at Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac with Rev. Tom Bird officiating. Joan was born March 19, 1930, in Dowagiac, to Gilbert and Hazel (Weller) Hunsberger. On Oct. 17, 1947, she married the love of her life, William J. Garrett in Dowagiac. She worked for Avon where she was a successful sales representative for many years. Joan had a love for animals, she could often be found feeding the squirrels and neighbors animals. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with her family. She was known as a care taker, always looking out for others. Most of all she loved her family and will missed by all who knew her.

Joan is survived by daughter, Pat Arkauskas; grandchildren, Pam (Johnny) Arkauskas and Joe Arkauskas; great-grandchildren, Lucy, Joseph and Masion Arkauskas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Garrett; five brothers and three sisters.
