SISTER LAKES — “Everyone likes to be Irish on St. Patrick’s Day,” said Joe Morin, one of the owners and founders of Sister Lakes Brewing Company.

It may not be that everyone wants to be Irish, but certainly many people enjoy decking out in green attire, listening to jolly Irish jigs and drinking green alcohol. On Saturday, March 16, the public is invited to Sister Lakes Brewing Company to enjoy a celebration of the patron saint of Ireland with live music, food, green beer and good company.

The St. Paddy’s Day Party is the third annual celebration of Irish heritage and sainthood for SLBC. The celebration has been going since the first year of operation at the brewery.

According to Joe, the event has become a multifaceted opportunity to welcome spring and shake off the cabin fever, kick off a new season for the brewery and celebrate the Irish lineage within the SLBC ownership. Joe shares ownership of the brewery with his brothers, Brian and Dave Morin, as well as his father, Jerry Morin. Although the St. Paddy’s Day Party is not strictly a family reunion, the SLBC family is opening the event with similar welcome to their neighbors and greater Sister Lakes community.

“We come from Irish heritage, so this is really a time to celebrate our own roots,” Joe said. “It’s also fun to share in that with the community. We’re actually happy to share the day.”

Saturday will be a day of lively Celtic music provided by Steely O’James and Irish Lassey, and String Time. To round off a full Irish esthetic, SLBC is serving corned beef and cabbage and Reuben sandwiches as well as green beer and specialty Irish red ales. From 2 to 10 p.m. SLBC will be alive with the sounds and tastes of the European island.

As important to the SLBC team as the celebration of the Irish holiday is the chance to get their community out of the winter seclusion for a welcome to spring bash.

“March is the time the community has been cooped up inside, so we celebrate the change of seasons with good music and good food,” Joe said.

For Joe, bringing the community together for holidays and celebrations of seasons is the task of a business owner, one he and his SLBC family are pleased to provide for their community.

“The community is looking forward to it every year. It grows every year as we expand our reach in the community and develop new customers,” he said.

Because of the length of the party, SLBC expects — and has seen — hundreds throughout the day for their St. Paddy’s Day parties. With the flow of so many people, they remind their customers and visitors that SLBC is a family friendly place and the party is family friendly as well.

The St. Paddy’s Day Party at SLBC is open to the public, and there is no cover charge. For more information about the event or Sister Lakes Brewing Company, readers can visit the Sister Lakes Brewing Company Facebook page, or sisterlakesbrewing.com.
