DOWAGIAC — The city of Dowagiac is asking that residents start their spring break by grabbing their cell phone and a favorite adult (grandparent, parent, teacher, etc.) for some fun on Monday, April 1.

At 10 a.m. April 1, two-person teams will hunt for items across the city and bring back “proof of your mission” in the form of selfies.  Teams will begin at the Dowagiac District Library where they will receive their Tourist Packet. Upon the completion of the tour, teams will return to the library to receive a prize package.

For those unable to participate, there will be a “Tourist Camera Hunt” across the city. During spring break week, April 1-6, anyone finding an image of the “Spring into Your Local Library – Tourist Camera” may return it to the Dowagiac District Library for a prize.

This program is a unique, volunteer-based, program that unites the community through reading and relationships, said organizers. “Spring Into Your Local Library” is fostered by the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians, the city of Dowagiac and the Dowagiac District Library.

Pre-registration is highly suggested as participation is limited. Registration is open through March 29.  Participants are asked to bring a cell phone, dress for the weather, be ready for some fun and have a selfie smile ready.  Register teams at pokagonband-nsn.gov.
