SMC awards service pins

DOWAGIAC — The Southwestern Michigan College Board of Trustees recently awarded service pins to two individuals.

Chairman Thomas F. Jerdon presented a 35-year service pin to Social Science Instructor Dr. Mary Young-Marcks of Edwardsburg at the Feb. 25 SMC Board of Trustees meeting on the Dowagiac campus. Young-Marcks is also a digital faculty consultant for McGraw Hill. She has a Ph.D. from Michigan State University in college and university administration, a master’s degree in public administration from Central Michigan University, a CMU bachelor’s degree in social work and an associate degree from Delta College.

Business Office Staff Accountant Breanna Rees of Dowagiac received her five-year service pin from SMC Treasurer Becky Moore at the same meeting. She started at SMC as a student worker, holding various positions around campus. In addition to her SMC Associate in Arts degree, Rees this summer adds her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Ferris State University.
