Charles “Charlie” Stainbrook, 95, of St. Joseph, and formerly of Niles, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019, at the West Woods of Bridgman.

A service celebrating his life will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at the Davidson Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Coloma. The family will receive friends and relatives beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Davidson Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Heart Association or to the Donor’s favorite charity. Charlie was born on Dec. 23, 1923, to Floyd and Frances (Runge) Stainbrook. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Special Forces during WWII and loved to talk with his buddies about his wartime stories. Charlie was a long-time employee of Michigan Bell and later AT&T and enjoyed getting together with his working buddies for breakfast. When he retired, he was in charge of the all the Toll lines for the phone company. His favorite pastime was traveling up north to look after his properties there. Charlie was a very kind man and was always concerned about others and their needs.

He will be sadly missed by his family; his sister, Rose Follman, of St. Joseph, his brother, Paul Stainbrook, of Amherst, Ohio, and his numerous nieces and nephews. Each and every one had a special place in his heart. A special thanks to his next-door neighbors, Bob and Linda Moore. The family would also like to thank everyone at West Woods for their wonderful care they provided while Charlie was there. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and twto sisters.
