NILES — The Niles Elks are once again rolling out the comedy red carpet for two entertainers scheduled to perform this Saturday.

The 6th Annual Valentine’s Comedy Night will feature comedy headliners Kirk Bogos and Kevin “Squishy Man” Barber, who will present a 90-minute show that is guaranteed to keep attendees in stiches, said organizers.

The $20 ticket includes a light appetizer buffet and delicious dessert bar. Doors open at 6 p.m. Buffet is from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m., and the show starts at 8 p.m. at the Lodge, 1322 Canal St., Niles.

In a short time, Kirk Bogos has become a familiar face on stages at comedy clubs and colleges nationwide. Even though he waited until he was 50 to start doing stand-up, he still has the energy and enthusiasm of a 49-year-old man, said event organizers.

As seen on HBO, Bogo enjoys sharing his spin on the 60’s and 70’s and the comedy and irony in everyday life, he said.

Bogo’s ability to relate to audiences of every age makes his show one that audiences will not want to miss, organizers said.

Kevin “Squishy Man” Barber is a licensed psychotherapist, public speaker and entertainer. He specializes in providing laughter therapy, he said. Barber uses his childhood name, “Squishy” to show that life isn’t that serious and it’s ok to be silly. Barber discusses everyday topics like repaying student loans, office politics, step parenting, dealing with the dreaded “midlife crises” and more.  Barber performs more than 45 weeks per year in clubs, colleges and corporations. His credits include TBS, Hardcore Pawn and Comcast Comedy Spotlight.

“It’s kind of amazing that this is our 6th year doing this,” said Julie Clark, trustee chairman at the Elks. “It’s something people look forward to every year. We will once again kick off the night with a joke-off and then Kevin will take the stage. This is a terrific fundraising opportunity for the organization. It should be another fantastic evening.”

The Niles Elks Lodge is a fraternal organization committed to assisting children and veterans in the community, according to organizers. The organization regularly supports athletic teams, Project Graduation, South Side Prom, veteran’s in the area, school education projects, Holiday food baskets, Sunday Funday for the special needs community and more. Net proceeds from the event will contribute to the work the Lodge does in the area.

Reservations to the Valentine’s Day show are strongly suggested. Reserve or purchase tickets at the lodge or call (269) 683-0133 for more information.
