Four Flags Toastmasters awards Winter Speaking Contest winners

NILES — On Jan. 17, The Four Flags Toastmasters Club hosted its Winter Speaking Contest.

The three winners were Brenda Beadenkopf, first place; Tammy Yeager, second place; and Doug Knapman, third place. Beadenkopf and Knapman are from Edwardsburg, and Yeager is from Niles.

Beadenkopf and Yeager will go on to represent the Four Flags club in the Area Contest on Feb. 20 at the SMC Niles Campus, 33890 US Hwy 12.

Toastmasters is an international club that promotes self-confidence and personal growth by providing a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills.

The Four Flags club serves the Dowagiac, Buchanan and Edwardsburg areas as well as Niles. It is open to the public and meets weekly at 8:30 a.m. Thursday 8:30 a.m., except for every first and third Thursday when they meet at 6 p.m.
