Dowagiac continues to roll in Wolverine

THREE RIVERS — The Dowagiac wrestling team continues to roll through its Wolverine Conference schedule.

The Chieftains, who currently are in second place in the league with a 6-1 record, swept host Three Rivers and Sturgis at a league quad Wednesday night.

The Chieftains routed the Trojans 51-24 before routing the host Wildcats 60-22.

Winning two matches on the night for Dowagiac were Jordan Simpson (103), Tyler Huston (112/119), Dylan Elmore (119/125), Korey Kinyon (125/130), Alex McIntosh (140), Brayan Paredes (171) and Wyatt Bailey (285).

The sweep improved the Chieftains to 19-4 heading into Saturday’s Lakeshore Super Duals in Stevensville.

Dowagiac will wrestle St. Joseph in the opening round before facing Lakeshore in the second round, Hudsonville in the third round and No. 5-ranked (Division 1) Rockford in the final round.

Wrestling is scheduled to begin at noon.
