PAQUETTE: Honored to serve as new state representative

Published 9:36 am Thursday, January 17, 2019

For those who don’t know me, I am your new state representative, Brad Paquette.

I’ve lived in southern Berrien County for the past eight years as a neighbor, educator and active citizen. After receiving my bachelor’s degree from Northern Michigan University, I attended Andrews University in Berrien Springs where I earned a Master’s degree in teaching. Since then, I’ve been investing in our community as an educator at Niles High School in the New Tech program, and as vice-chair of the Planning Commission for the city of Niles.

It was during one of my civics courses at New Tech that my students challenged me to take my “active citizenship” to the next level. Their encouragement led me to seek this office, and now I have the incredible honor of representing the 78th District in the Michigan House of Representatives.

I opened my legislative office after the start of the new year and have already worked through the first of many constituent inquiries to come. Whether it is an issue you need help navigating, or an idea to help simplify government, I encourage you to reach out. I am here and ready to listen.

I’ve already had countless conversations about the need to reform our broken auto insurance system, strengthen our state’s education system, and fix our roads. I’m eager to get to work on those issues and any others you think will help make Michigan an even better place to live, work and raise a family.

The 78th District encompasses portions of Berrien and Cass counties, including the cities of Buchanan, New Buffalo and Niles and the townships of Baroda, Berrien, Bertrand, Buchanan, Chikaming, Galien, Howard, Milton, New Buffalo, Niles, Ontwa, Oronoko, Pipestone, Silver Creek, Sodus, Three Oaks and Weesaw.

Residents can contact my office with any state or local issues by calling (517) 373-1796, by emailing bradpaquette@house.mi.gov or by visiting my website at reppaquette.com.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve. I am excited about what we can accomplish together.

Brad Paquette R, represents the 78th District, which covers Berrien County.
