Car crashes into The Firing Pin Tuesday morning, suspects take weapons

NILES — Several firearms were stolen from The Firing Pin early Tuesday morning, after a car crashed into the building to gain entry to the store, according to the Niles Police Department.

Officers responded to The Firing Pin, 318 N. Fifth St. at 4:14 a.m. for a burglary alarm. When officers arrived, they searched the building and realized several firearms were missing. The investigation so far has determined there were several suspects involved and that they fled the scene.

The owners of The Firing Pin are completing an inventory to identify the exact type and number of firearms stolen.

After police spoke with the owner of the vehicle involved, it was apparent the vehicle had been stolen overnight from his Niles residence. The owner had left the car keys inside the unlocked vehicle overnight.

The Niles Police Department said they will continue to investigate this incident and a cash reward is available for information leading to the arrest of individuals responsible.
