Ruth Christopher, of Cass County

Ruth Ella Christopher, 89, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, at the Cass County Medical Care Facility.
She was born June 23, 1929, the second of nine children to James William Sr. and Dorothy Suttles-Williams.
Ruth married Richard Dean Christopher on March 29, 1948, together the raised six children.
Ruth was known for her cooking. She could make anything taste good.
Over the years she worked in many restaurants and county clubs. She also cared for other people’s children. She loved word search books and crocheting. She loved kids, not only her own but everybody else’s kids.
Ruth will be greatly missed by family and friends. Left to cherish her many memories; one daughter, Carol (Ed) Concini, of Lubbock, Texas; sons, Thomas Christopher, of Lubbock, Texas, David (Holly) Christopher, Steven (Carly) Christopher, both of Cassopolis, Tony (Janelle) Christopher, of Atlanta, Georgia; a son-in-law, William Rittman, of Berrien Springs, very special granddaughter, Linda Lambiert; one brother, James Williams Jr., of Vandalia, four sisters, Dorothy Jones, of Lansing, Mae Warrick, of Cassopolis, Nell Guy, of East Lansing, and Thelma Curry, of Elkhart. She had 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard of 52 years; daughter, Janice Rittman; infant son, Wesley; brother, Cecil Williams; sisters, Helen Meredith and Mary Thrash.
Family and friends will gather at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at Chain Lake Church, Cassopolis. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at Chain Lake Church. Ruth will be laid to rest in Calvin Center Cemetery in Calvin Township, Michigan. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan. Online condolences may be made at hovenfunerals.com.
