Isabelle Ann-Marie Jasper, 22 months, of Niles, died at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018, at the Beacon Children’s Hospital division of Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

The family is grateful for the heroic efforts offered by emergency personnel and the hospital staff to give them a few extra days with Isabelle.

She was born on Feb. 10, 2017, in Niles to Joseph Michael-Samuel Jasper and Elizabeth Marie Saltzman.

Isabelle was already quite capable of not just walking, but running, especially to greet someone.  She had also mastered talking in sentences, and using names.  She liked playing with blocks, enjoyed every car that took her for a ride, and loved french fries. She was curious, funny, and filled every room — and everybody — with joy. Perhaps her greatest attribute was her hugs, including a pat on the shoulder, and she was generous to share those hugs.

Her surviving family includes her parents, Liz Kelly, of Sister Lakes, Michigan, and Joseph Jasper, of Niles; Isabelle’s sister, Gabrielle “Gabby” Dobrzykowski, of Niles; grandparents, Gail (Mark) Seastrom, of Edwardsburg, Marillyn Saltzman, of Galien, Michigan, and Michael (Connie Flanagan) Jasper, of Niles; Uncles Lester (Tracy) Mervine, Gregory Saltzman, and Aunt Melissa Stanisz; and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, including JoAnn Eckler who held and knew Isabelle for 2 months prior to her death on April 21, 2017, and Ronald Saltzman.

The funeral service to celebrate the life of Isabelle Jasper will be at 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, at the Halbritter-Wickens Funeral Home, 615 East Main St. in Niles with the Rev. Fran Lane-Lawrence of Niles officiating.  The family will receive relatives and friends beginning at 2 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at: halbritterwickens.com.
