Wrestling teams have mixed results

BUCHANAN — Area wrestling teams had mixed results as the 2018 portion of their schedules came to a close Wednesday night.

Host Buchanan had no trouble defeating Benton Harbor 48-27 in a non-conference match, while Brandywine was swept by host Decatur 46-27 and by Portage Northern 42-36.

At Edwardsburg, Dowagiac swept Wolverine Conference foes Paw Paw 52-28 and South Haven 49-26.

EDWARDSBURG — The Chieftains had no trouble picking up a pair of conference victories.

Earning two wins on the night were Tyler Huston (112), Dylan Elmore (119), Alex McIntosh (135), Lamberto Paredes (160), Brayan Paredes (171), Michael Schlup (189) and Wyatt Bailey (285).

Dowagiac (10-4, 2-1 Wolverine Conference) returns to the mat Dec. 28 when it travels to Ohio for the Defiance Border Wars.

Earning wins for the Bucks were Hunter Weinberg (103), Zach Weaver (112), Frank Furst (125), Andrew Ruth (145), Tyler McCaffrey (152), Cody Sebasty (189), Shane Grimmig (215) and Mason Colglazier (285).

Buchanan will be back in action on Dec. 29 at the Comstock Invitational.

Brandywine wrestling

DECATUR — Winning two matches on the night for the Bobcats were Searra Inman (11-0), Hunter Heath (14-0) and Steven Kendall (11-3).

Brandywine is 5-9 heading into the Christmas break.

The Bobcat head to Colon for a team tournament Dec. 29.
