William ‘Sonny’ Albert Long, 75, of Edwardsburg

William “Sonny” Albert Long, 75, of Edwardsburg, died Sunday evening, Dec. 2, 2018, in his residence.

He was born Aug. 7, 1943, in Adamsville, the fourth child born to Harley and Treva Long. He married Carol Ann Perry, July 3, 1982, in Edwardsburg. She survives.

William “Sonny” Albert Long

William was a Navy Vietnam Veteran. He was a Life Member and Past Master of the Masonic Lodge 106, a Life Member and Past Commander of the American Legion Post 365, Charter and Life Member of the VFW Post 2284. He was an Eagle Scout and a pillar of the community through his service work. He was recently retired as the Owner of Cass Outdoor Power Equipment. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed trips to Canada and the Upper Peninsula to visit friends.

William will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Long, of Edwardsburg; daughters, Vonda Long, of Elkhart, Carol Ann (Lincoln) Roy, of Elkhart; sons, Jim (Jodi Murphy) Meadows, of Cassopolis, Darrell (Theresa) Meadows, of Cassopolis, Bill (Kelly) Long, of Edwardsburg, Michael Long, of Upper Peninsula; grandchildren, Dustin (Crystal) Long, of Grand Rapids, Makayla Long, of Edwardsburg, John (Cassandra) Roy, of Elkhart, Indiana, Brandon (Heidi) Meadows, of Edwardsburg, Kelsey Meadows from Cape Coral, Florida, Jessica (James) Winer, of Elkhart, Indiana, Eric (Courtney Maynard) Meadows, of Rochester Hills, Heather (Brandon) Landers, of Ann Arbor, Jasmine Meadows, of Ann Arbor, Devin Lamere, of Mishawaka, Indiana, Ciara Meadows, of Elkhart, Indiana; six great-grandchildren, sister, Marilyn (Lewis) Nelms, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; brother-in-law, Jim Houston, of Edwardsburg; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Judy Houston, Barbara Pauley; and one brother, Fredrick “Mike” Long.

Family and friends will gather for a Celebration of Life with full Military Honors at a later date in the Edwardsburg American Legion Post 365, 25751 US-12, Edwardsburg, Michigan 49112.
