Ebbia Iris (Pires) Baigorria, of Argentina

Ebbia Iris (Pires) Baigorria, 80, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, following an illness.

She was born in Entre Rios, Argentina on March 9, 1938, to the late Vincente and Louisa (Rodriguez) Pires.

Iris married Manuel R. Baigorria on Dec. 24, 1968, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

A few years later the couple moved their family to the U.S. and shortly after made Niles their home.

She was a dedicated homemaker, not only in her own home but to many others as well; including the Edwardsburg and Buchanan Schools, the Niles Post Office and the Niles Police Department.

She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed Notre Dame but passionate about Argentina soccer. Iris was always active and enjoyed exercise, fashion, jewelry and dancing. She had a great love of pets, especially, Roscoe, Daisy and Suzy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers as well as six sisters.

Iris is survived by her son, Steve Baigorria, of Niles; a sister, Chona Pires, of Argentina; brother-in-law, Luis Baigorria Sr., of Niles; many nieces and nephews, Amy Baigorria, of South Bend, Dan Baigorria, of Niles and Louis Baigorria, of Lake Zurich, Illinois.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, with a time of visitation one hour prior. An interment will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery.
