Terry Groth

Terry Groth was originally appointed to Claudia Zebell’s position but was elected to a four-year term Nov. 6 to fill the position previously filled by Doug Kolmodin. Groth’s new term will expire in 2022. Groth has a son who is a sixth grader at Dowagiac Middle School and is married to Lisa Koenig-Groth. He is employed at the Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant and is a 2000 graduate of Dowagiac Union High School.

Carrie Freeman was appointed by the board to fill the position created when long serving board member Zebell resigned to take a position in the Dowagiac Union High School media center.  Freeman’s term will expire in 2020. Freeman and her husband Mike have a fourth grade son who attends Kincheloe Elementary. She is a 2002 graduate of Dowagiac Union High School.  Her parents are Pat and Bob Franz, longtime retired Dowagiac educators.

Dowagiac Union Schools is excited to have these two new board members as part of the educational team serving the students of this community, said Superintendent Paul Hartsig.  Board meetings are typically held the third Monday of each month. A full schedule of meeting times and other information can be found at dowagiacschools.org/board-of-education/.
