Jack H. Ort Jr., 55, of Niles, passed away at his residence on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018, of natural causes.

He was born on Aug. 23, 1963, in Niles to Jack and Priscilla (Laudenslager) Ort.

Jack was a 1981 graduate of Niles High School and on Oct. 13, 1984, Jack married his high school sweetheart, Roberta Dircks. He worked as an iron worker for the Iron Workers Local 292, until recently, when his health no longer allowed. Jack’s world revolved around his family, especially his children. He coached Cal Ripken baseball for many years, including taking a group to the World Series. He also spent many years coaching basketball for the Brandywine Midget League and many years coaching Optimist Soccer.

In his free time, Jack enjoyed being on the golf course and could be found building or remodeling something, all the time. Jack always greeted you with a, “GO BLUE” when he saw you.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jack H. Ort, Sr. and father-in-law, Richard Dircks Sr.

Jack is survived by his wife, Roberta Ort, of Niles; his children; Monty (Ashley) Ort, of Niles, Taylor Ort, of Niles and Rachael Ort (Derek Green), of Cassopolis; his mother, Priscilla Ort, of Niles, his siblings; Debbie (Steve) Shoemaker, of Niles, Rhonda (Barry) Nichols, of Niles and Greg (Stephanie) Ort, of South Carolina; his mother-in-law, Sharon Dircks, of Niles; brother-in-law’s, Rick (Louise) Dircks, of Arizona and Randy (Kathy) Dircks, of New Hampshire; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and countless lives he touched.

A time of visitation will be on Friday, Nov. 30, 2018, at Brown Funeral Home in Niles from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. His family will gather for a private funeral service and interment at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
