Two injured in Wayne Township crash

WAYNE TOWNSHIP — Two were injured in a crash Saturday in Wayne Township, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Richard Behnke reported that at 10:04 p.m. Saturday, deputies of the Cass County Sheriff’s Office were called to investigate a personal injury crash that occurred on Dutch Settlement, near Nubour Road, in Wayne Township, Cass County Michigan. Initial investigation shows that Adam Molter, 38, of Dowagiac, was westbound on Dutch Settlement when his vehicle left the road, rolling onto its side down the embankment near Nubour Road.

The driver of the vehicle was transported by ambulance to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital where he was transported by Med Flight to Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The passenger of the vehicle, 43-year-old Decatur resident, Johnathan Hemenway, was transported to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor, according to deputies. Both individuals were not wearing their seatbelts.

The case remains under investigation.

Assisting agencies are Pokagon Tribal Police, Wayne Township Fire Department, Dowagiac Fire Department, Pride Care Ambulance and Med Flight.
