Denise Maria Smitley, 52, of Buchanan, passed away on Friday, Nov. 23, 2018, after a long illness at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville.

She was born on May 28, 1966, in South Bend, to the late George and Juanita Smitley.

Denise was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan, who lived long enough to see them win the World Series.

Denise is survived by her sister, Georgianna Patridge and her children, Richard Patridge, Juanita (Darrion Richardson) Patridge; great-niece, Ava Richardson; great-nephew, Maximus Patridge; brother, William “Bill” Smitley and spouse, Heidi, and their children, Andrew Smitley, Benjamin Smitley, and Caleb Smitley.

Memorial service for Denise will be hosted by the family at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoven Funeral Home Inc., Buchanan. Online condolences may be made at hovenfunerals.com.
