NILES — The Howard Branch of the Cass District Library will be offering a fun family craft night at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11 at the library, at 2341 Yankee St. in Niles.

There will be a variety of holiday themed crafts and ornaments available for people of all ages to create. The whole family is welcome to attend and enjoy the evening together. Those interested are advised to bring a small wallet size photo for one of the ornament crafts. Adults are asked to bring a wine glass to create a snowman candle holder craft. This program is free to attend and open to the public. No registration is required.

The library will also host a Family Movie Night at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3. The featured film will be “A.X.L.”

The show is free and open to the public. The library will provide free popcorn and water.

The movie is about A.X.L., a top-secret, robotic dog that has advanced artificial intelligence created by the military. After an experiment gone wrong, A.X.L. is discovered hiding in the desert by Alex, a kindhearted outsider who finds a way to connect with the robot. The two soon develop a special friendship based on trust, loyalty and compassion. Helping Miles gain confidence, A.X.L. goes to any length to protect his new companion, including facing off against the scientists who want their creation back.
