Steven Craig Solloway, 59, of Cassopolis, died Saturday afternoon in his residence.

He was born Sept. 14, 1959, in Saint Joseph County, Indiana, the ninth of 10 children of James and Kathryn (Krieger) Solloway.

Steven was passionate about his horses. He loved eating meals at Callahan’s in Elkhart and telling “tall tales” to anyone who would listen. In his spare time, he was a regular for coffee at Phillips 66 in Cassopolis. In recent years, Steven enjoyed working with Dr. Philip Hecht at Twin Springs Aggregate, where they spent countless hours arguing with each other.

Steven will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by four sisters, Susan Solloway of Elkhart, Marsha Butrick of Cassopolis, Vickie Berger of South Bend, Charlene Vickers of Elkhart; two brothers, Gary Solloway of Cladwell, Idaho, Rodney (Teresa) Solloway of Niles; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, John Christian Solloway, James Vincent “Chub” Solloway, and Dennis “Stumpy” Solloway, Sr.

The family will observe a private remembrance.
