Toastmasters change locations

NILES — The Four Flags Toastmasters Club has changed its venue from the Niles Township office on Bell Road to Southwestern Michigan College Niles campus, at 33890 U.S. Highway 12, in Room 134. Toastmasters helps people develop speaking and leadership skills, which fosters confidence and personal growth.

Meetings are hosted at two different times: the morning meeting every Thursday at 8:30 a.m. (except for holidays, snow days, etc.) and the evening group meets every other Thursday at 6 p.m.  All are welcome.

Niles District Library to host Eye Opener Breakfast

NILES — The Niles District Library will partner with the Four Flags Chamber of Commerce to host an Eye Opener Breakfast from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7 at the library, 620 E. Main St., in Niles.

The breakfast event is hosted monthly at various Niles businesses as a networking opportunity for area professionals, and is intended to showcase the host business.

The library will offer door prizes, and is hosting a holiday mystery exchange. Those wishing to participate should bring wrapped swag from their business. Ideas include coffee mugs, popsockets, T-shirts and other promotional materials. Given the holiday theme, swag should be wrapped and brought to the event.

Bangor resident injured in Milton Township crash

MILTON TOWNSHIP — An 18-year-old Bangor resident was injured in a car crash on Gumwood Road in Milton Township Tuesday, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.

Police were called to the scene at approximately 11:09 a.m. when Alexis Roseboom, of Bangor, lost control of her vehicle and left the roadway.

Roseboom was southbound on Gumwood, near Redfield. When her vehicle left the road, she struck several trees while going down into the embankment.

The driver was wearing her seatbelt and alcohol was not a factor. She was transported by ambulance to Memorial Hospital for treatment of her injuries. 

The crash remains under investigation.

Assisting were Niles Township Fire Department and Southwest Community Ambulance Service.
