On Nov. 8, Southside School honored 50 area veterans at a luncheon and program.

Lunch was provided by the staff and the students read essays during the program. Veterans were also given a small gift of appreciation as well as a book made up of essays and poems created by the Southside students.

This is an annual event for Southside to honor area veterans.  Principal Paula Hopkins said that students participate in several community events during the school year but this is everyone’s favorite.
