Athlete Showcase: Dowagiac’s Terry Carmichael

Terry Carmichael is a senior on the Dowagiac football team.

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?

TC: Being able to play with my teammates, my brother and my family.

What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?

TC: Week seven against Otsego my senior year. We were up 10 points, but lost when Otsego scored twice.

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

TC: Not just one hero, but two. My parents Gina and Danny Carmichael. They are always there to support me and to push me to do better.

When are you the most nervous while you are

competing?

TC: Right before every game.

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

TC: Slipping right off the line on the first step.

How do you tend to workout/train when by yourself?

TC: I do cardio, push-ups, and sit-ups just to get my blood pumping.

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

TC: Baseball or wrestling.

Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?

TC: It is what makes high school worth-while. It helps make the days go by.

How would you give away $50,000?

TC: Half of it to charity and the other half to the Dowagiac football program.

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

TC: My team now.

If I did not play sports, I would…?

TC: Spend most of my time working.

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

TC: Remembering plays. A lot comes at you.

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

TC: Pass interference.

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

TC: I have the potential to do great.

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

TC: Sports. It is my life.
