Vera Rafferty, 89, of Allen park, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018, surrounded by family. The daughter of Hazel and Edward Ruff, she was born on June 13, 1929, in Detroit, graduated from Southwestern High School in Detroit, and subsequently was employed by Ford Motor Company for 28 years until her retirement at age 77.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents; son, Paul John Rafferty Jr.; sibling, Mary Reed and Sonny Ruff of Taylor, Fritz Ruff, of Lincoln Park, Eva Musco, Bill Ruff and Wes Ruff, all of Monroe.

Surviving are her children, Sharon Gard, of Decatur, Patricia (Michael) Mohney, of Dowagiac, Jenni (Roy Gantt) Rafferty, of Westland, Lee Rafferty, of Coldwater, Cindy Green, of Dowagiac, and James Rafferty, of Allen Park; sister, Shirley Richards, of Lincoln Park; 16 grandchildren, Robert Mohney, Marjorie Mohney, Mark Mohney, Leslie Bergen, Sherry Ashby, Corky Dunblazier, Joseph Phillipson, Shannon Phillipson, Dana Horne, Nichole Green, Monica Kiggins, Jay Green, Ryan Green, Marlene Williams, Paul Rafferty and Kelly Kinsey; 31 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Per Vera’s wishes, cremation has taken place and family will have a private service at a later date.
