Dennis M. Scott, 59, of Niles, passed away on Nov. 2, 2018, in Spectrum Lakeland Hospital in Niles.

Dennis was born on Sept. 14, 1959, in Flint, Michigan, and was the only son of Robert and Marie Scott.

On Sept. 26, 2016, he married Connie J. Scott who passed away on Sept. 30, 2016.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Connie, his father, Robert in 2005, and his nephew, Jason Kessler in 1998.

Dennis is survived by his mother, Marie Scott, sons; Thor (Becky) Brummage, of Elkhart, Casey (Valarie) Sandoval, of Niles, five beloved grandsons; Michael, Logan, Wyatt Brummage, Dominik and Isaac Sandoval, his sister-in-law; Sue Scott, of Niles, his two sisters; Bridget (Michael) Kessler, of Niles and Barbara (Bill) Scally, of Niles, six nephews; Steven (Christine) Kessler, of Wetumpka, Alabama, Anthony (Ashley) Kessler, of Lapeer, Michigan, Joshua Scally, of Benton Harbor, Stephen (Kammy) Scally, of Rapid City, South Dakota and Brandon Norris, of Niles, nieces; Jennifer Scally, of Niles, Rachel Scally, of Niles, two Aunts; Maxine Smrekar, of Davison, Michigan and Velma Scott, of Cheboygan, Michigan, his close friends; Terry Vincent, Chris McCarthy and Dan Krempetz, as well as many cousins and extended family

Dennis honorably served in the U.S. Army in the 4th Infantry Tank Artillery Division as a cannon crewman. He served at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado from 1979 until his honorable discharge in 1986. He attained the rank of Sgt. with expert badges in rifle, M-16, and hand grenade. He is a member of the American Legion Post 225.

After his military discharge, Dennis worked as a Cement Mason and was a member of Local #692 Operative Plasters and Cement Masons International Association.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending quality time with his grandsons. Dennis was an avid follower of Detroit Tiger Baseball, the Detroit Lions, and University of Michigan Football.

Visitation for Dennis will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, at Halbritter Wickens Funeral Home 615 E. Main St. Niles. A rosary will be prayed on Tuesday at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church 219 S. State St. Niles. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery with

military honors.
