Cynthia “Cyndi” Lynn Laurita, 45, of Niles, passed away at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2018.

Cyndi was born on May 23, 1973, to Henry Evans and Gratha Evans in Niles.

On Sept. 9, 1995, Cyndi wed the love of her life, Ken Laurita at a ceremony in South Bend.

She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Evans and her father-in-law, Vincent G. Laurita.

Cynthia is survived by her husband, Kenneth Laurita, of Niles; her children, Caleb (Elizabeth) Hernandez, Jordan Hernandez, Kenneth, Rachel and Olivia Laurita, all of Niles; two grandchildren, Myah and Maddox; her siblings, David (Kelli) Bolin, of Dowagiac, Eugene Bolin, of South Bend, Shirley Schultz, of South Bend and Theresa Bowerman, of Niles; her mother-in-law, Mary Ellen Laurita, of Mishawaka; her brother in law’s, Vincent (Jeanne) Laurita, of Denver, Colorado, and Kevin (Eloisa) Laurita, of Atlanta, Georgia; sister-in-laws, Susan Laurita, of South Bend, Kim (Paul) Bechtel, of Elkhart, Indiana and Nancy Laurita, of Boise, Idaho; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and countless lives she has touched.

After graduating from Niles High School in 1991, Cyndi attended Southwest Michigan College and received her bachelor’s degree in business.  She soon earned herself a job while in college at Old Kent Bank which eventually was renamed to Fifth Third Bank in Niles.  After much hard work and dedication, she became the assistant vice president of Fifth Third Bank and enjoyed her co-workers as well as customers.

Cyndi enjoyed camping with family at Sandy Pines and time spent on the pontoon boat and her kayak on the water with her family. Cyndi was gifted at creating and working on projects with her husband and an avid runner for many years. Cyndi enjoyed holidays and was a member of the Four Flags Chamber of Commerce, and of New Beginnings Church in Niles. Cyndi has always been strong and fought cancer the same way.     

A time of visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, at Brown Funeral Home in Niles. Funeral services will be on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in care of her family where a college fund will be set up to assist with her children’s education. Donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
