BUCHANAN — Authorities are searching for the suspect alleged to have robbed the Pit Stop at gun point Sunday afternoon.

According to Buchanan Assistant Chief of Police Tim Ganus, the robbery took place at about 11:34 a.m. when a lone gunman entered the Pit Stop, 207 S. Oak St. and took an undisclosed amount of money. Witnesses described the suspect as a black male, possibly in his 20s and approximately 5 foot 9 inches tall and of thin build. He was wearing a red hoody, black pants and black gloves.

The suspect fled the scene on foot, traveling north on Oak Street.

There were two people in the store at the time of the robbery, a customer and an employee. No one was injured during the incident.

In-store security footage captured the suspect brandishing what appears to be a gun and kneeling on the counter with the register door open and cash spilling out.

Ganus said the Buchanan City Police Department and Berrien County Sheriff’s Department are working to investigate leads on the robbery. Ganus encouraged anyone with tips or information about the suspect to contact Buchanan police at (269) 695-5120.
