Eddies avoid Vicksburg upset bid

VICKSBURG — Undefeated and No. 1-ranked Edwardsburg avoided the upset bug at Vicksburg Friday night.

The host Bulldogs gave the Eddies everything they wanted for more than half of the Wolverine Conference contest before falling 38-22.

Edwardsburg (8-0) will be looking for its fourth undefeated season since 2013 when it travels to Sturgis for the regular season finale Friday night.

Vicksburg scored first last Friday night and led Edwardsburg 14-8 in the second quarter before the Eddies took command of the game.

Edwardsburg outscored the Bulldogs 30-8 from that point on to remain undefeated.

Caden Goggins had another big game for the Eddies with 180 rushing yards on eight carries with touchdown runs of 62, 73 and two yards.

Mac Gaideski added 55 yards on two carries and a 41-yard touchdown, while Isaiah Mitchell finished with 54 yards on six totes and a 30-yard touchdown run.

Edwardsburg finished the night with 313 yards of total offense, all of which came on the ground, as the Eddies were 0-for-1 passing.

The Bulldogs had 264 yards of total offense, of which 152 yards came on the ground.

Drew Bidwell led the stringy Eddies defense with 12 tackles. Dylan McColley had 11 tackles, Dylan Hursh 10 and Cameron Thompson eight.
