NILES — The Cassopolis volleyball team went 0-2 at the Brandywine Quad Tuesday night.

The Rangers were defeated by Dowagiac 25-23 and 25-22 before falling to the host Bobcats 25-16 and 25-18.

Cassopolis and Marcellus decided not to play each other since they have met several times already this season, will see each other at Saturday’s Southwest 10 Conference Tournament and drew each other in the opening round of the Division 4 districts.

Despite the losses, Ranger coach Demi Schrader was pleased with her squad.

“Tonight was a tough night for my girls,” she said. “With our setter getting injured last week, we had to adjust our lineup and many girls have been playing different positions than they are used to. Although we struggled a little tonight, I was proud of our effort.”

Cassopolis played without Gabby Rowan, who is recovering from an ankle injury sustained during practice.

Against Dowagiac, Maile Barber had 10 kills and six digs, while Sophie Fiala had five blocks.

Olivia Purlee and Lynnzee Armstrong both finished with a team-high eight digs. Armstrong also had 13 assists.

In the Brandywine match, Barber had a pair of kills and four digs.
