Robert “Junior” “Bobby” Burmeister, age 74, of Cassopolis, died peacefully Monday, Oct. 8, 2018, in the comfort of his family’s presence.
He was born Nov. 17, 1943, in Niles, Michigan, the older of two sons born to Robert and Maudie Burmeister. He married Carol Ann Johnson April 17, 1965, in Decatur, Michigan. She survives.
Bobby liked to relax and enjoyed his cabin up north. He liked the simpler things in life. He was known as “Grandpa Goofy” to his grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be remembered for teaching them how to say, “oink oink.” Bobby was a BIG Michigan fan.
Robert will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol Burmeister of Cassopolis; two daughters, Peggy Burmeister and Wendy Burmeister, both of Cassopolis; one son, Michael Burmeister, of Indianapolis, 20 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one grandson, James Burmeister; his parents; and his younger brother, Jerry Joe Burmeister.
Family and friends will gather at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018, until time of service at noon in Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 North Broadway St., Cassopolis, with Pastor Douglas Tindall officiating.
Mr. Burmeister will be laid to rest in Dailey Cemetery in Dailey, Michigan.
