The Dowagiac District Library has planned a number of community events for the upcoming week. The library is located at 211 Commercial St., in downtown Dowagiac.
Organ donation sign up week
Tuesday, Oct. 9 — Mon. Oct. 15
This seven-day campaign involves more than 150 libraries across the state, each inspiring local residents to join the Michigan Organ Donor Registry, and educating them on the facts of organ, tissue and eye donation. The libraries involved in the campaign are located throughout Michigan, from Houghton to Dearborn and from South Haven to Detroit. Volunteers and library staff will answer questions, provide give-away items and, most importantly, help library patrons sign up on the Donor Registry. See the MI Libraries for Life page for updates.
Teen trivia
4 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11
Teens are invited to show off how smart they are at the library’s teen trivia. Trivia categories will change from month to month and might include sports, music, pop culture, book titles, history, holidays, poetry, fast food slogans, and more.
Family storytime
10:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12
Storytimes help 2- to 4-year-olds get ready for kindergarten by encouraging them to read, write, talk, sing and play. Children of all abilities are welcome, and caregivers are encouraged to participate as well.

Game day
3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18
Teens are invited to come play together on the library’s X-Box 360 in the Youth Area. The library has an assortment of X-Box games and four controllers, as well as tabletop games. Each round lasts 30 minutes, so that everyone gets a turn.
