Dowagiac, Plainwell play to scoreless tie

DOWAGIAC — The Dowagiac soccer team played to a scoreless tie with visiting Plainwell in their Wolverine Conference match Wednesday.

The Trojans outshot Dowagiac 9-5 in the defensive battle.

“Very good game on both sides,” said Dowagiac coach Mike Williams. “It was a defensive battle with good counter attacks from both teams. Vic Zavala played a great game in goal. We need to continue that intensity through the year, and we will have continued success.”

The Chieftains are now 10-4-2 on the year.

Dowagiac returns to action Monday at Sturgis.

Edwardsburg soccer

Anthony Castelluci scored a pair of goals as the Eddies blanked South Haven 4-0 in Wolverine Conference soccer.

Also scoring for the Eddies (6-6-2) were Nate Bessinger and Colby Sidenbender.

Picking up assists were Ben Kraus and Aaron Toms.

The Eddies took on Elkhart Christian Thursday before traveling to Plainwell on Monday.

Brandywine soccer

Host Brandywine dropped a 6-3 decision to Bridgman Wednesday.

Scoring goals for the Bobcats were Bryce Taberski, Niklas Harrison and Andrew Shadler,

The Bees led 3-0 at halftime.

The Bobcats are back on the pitch Saturday at River Valley.
