Edward “Butch” Lee Wirick, of Evart Township, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 31, 2018, cutting firewood in Osceola Township, Osceola County, with his son-in-law. He was 74.
Edward was born Aug. 13, 1944, in Niles, to Theodore Wirick Sr. and Evelyn Osborn Wirick. He married Sharon Marie Williams, in Niles, on Nov. 2, 1963, and she preceded him in death Nov. 17, 2016.
Mr. Wirick had worked as a carpenter, mostly doing sheetrock construction. Edward and Sharon moved to the Evart are from Dowagiac in 2001. Nothing made Ed’s eyes twinkle more than talking about his family. He was noted for his kindness and willingness to help others. Mr. Wirick was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushrooming, and chopping wood. He was an active member of Brooks Corners United Methodist Church.
Ed is survived by his three children, Evelyn “Lynn” (Terry) Cour, of Evart, Edward Wirick Jr., of Evart, Michael (Amy) Wirick, of Hersey, six grandchildren, Brennyn, Grace, Adeline, Asa, Terry, Jobeth, five great grandchildren, Jeydon, Elijha, Liam, Sheldon, Tomas, his sister, Linda (Jim) Crocker, of Niles, and two brothers, John (Cathy) Wirick, of Niles, and Bill Wirick, of Niles. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sharon, two sisters, Evelyn and Judy, and three brothers, Theodore Jr., Warren, and Larry.
A Celebration of Life honoring Edward Lee Wirick will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018, at the Brooks Corners United Methodist Church with Pastor Joe Beavan officiating. There will be a time of refreshment and fellowship following services in the church’s fellowship hall.
