Jason Anthony Kusmiez, 29, of Niles, died unexpectedly at 1:37 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana following a brief illness.
He was born on April 25, 1989, in South Bend, to Ronald E. and Donna L. (Marsiliano) Kusmiez Sr. He was graduated from Brandywine High School, and earned an Associate’s degree from Southwestern Michigan College. He had been employed as a manager at Advance Auto Parts, and had also been employed at Bentzer, Inc. in Edwardsburg.
Jason enjoyed traveling, including Puerto Rico, and international destinations such as Mexico, and England. He appreciated good chefs and great food, and visiting restaurants with friends. He has been active in the video gaming community since it started, visited amusement theme parks for the thrill of the roller coaster rides and more recently he had participated in kayaking — as always — with friends and family.
Surviving family includes his mother, Donna Kusmiez, of Niles; his siblings, Ronald Kusmiez Jr., Matthew Kusmiez, and Christine Kusmiez, all of Niles; his nieces and nephews, Raelynn Bestle, Remi Friske, Cali Kusmiez and Makenzie Webb; cousins, Gina Parker and her daughter Violet Parker, and Ofilia Marsiliano and her son, Giovoni Marsiliano; and a wonderful circle of great friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ron Kusmiez Sr.
The funeral service for Jason Kusmiez will be at 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 13, 2018, at the Halbritter-Wickens Funeral Home, 615 East Main Street in Niles with Pastor Mark Youngberg of First Baptist Church of Niles officiating.
