Thomas “Bud” Kiely Jr., 82, of Dowagiac, passed away, Friday, July 20, 2018 at his home.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 26, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac, with Fr. Mike Rejent officiating. Private Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Dowagiac. Friends may visit with the family from 3 until 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Tom was born July 13, 1936, in Chicago, to Thomas P. & Margaret (Riordan) Kiely Sr. He graduated from high school and enlisted in the U.S. Army. After serving his country, Tom enrolled in the police academy and started his career with the Chicago Police Department. He retired as Sergeant after twenty-seven years of service. Tom enjoyed his retirement years at his home in Sister Lakes. He was a member of the Chicago FOP Lodge #7. He enjoyed watching & feeding the birds around the house, watching the Chicago Bears & Michigan State Spartan’s football, and the time spent with his family.

Tom is survived by his daughters-Linda Kiely of Dowagiac, Deborah (Robert) Jiracek, of Columbus Ohio, Janet (Paul) Sanders, of Mokena, Illinois, Sherri (David) Shatz, of Aurora, Illinois; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his former wife Judith M. Kiely and his son-in-law Michael Moore.
