Dolores Ruth Morse, 88, of Vandalia, died peacefully Tuesday, June 26, 2018, in her residence.
She was born Nov. 2, 1929, in Vandalia, Michigan, the third of six children of Edward and Alma Haines Sr.
She married James Harry Morse April 2, 1949, in Cassopolis. After 60 years of marriage, he preceded her in death May 7, 2009.
Dolores was an archer, and enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting and cake decorating. She and her husband were campers and regularly went to Pentwater State Park with the same group of friends from around the state.
They also traveled to Alaska. Christmas was Dolores’ favorite holiday and it was the one time of year for her to spoil the grandchildren.
Dolores will be greatly missed by family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter Connie (John) Klein Sr. of Athens, Michigan; one son, Tom (Donna) Morse, of Santa Maria, California; five grandchildren, John Klein Jr., Matthew Smith, Christ of Klein, Jody (Justin) Bulifant, Cody James Morse, 12 great grandchildren; three brothers, Dewayne (Irene) Haines, of Monett, Missouri, Ron Haines, of Vandalia, Jack (Phyllis Johnson) Haines, of Ocala, Florida; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Donna Knepple, and one brother, Edward “Bud” Haines Jr.
Family and friends will gather Thursday, July 5, 2018, from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. in Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis, with the Reverend Michael Jenkins officiating.
Mrs. Morse’s remains will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in Birch Lake Cemetery in Calvin Township, Michigan.
